NEWS FROM THE WORLD OF OUR PRODUCTION

A new plant in Wittenborn, Germany. Others in Bulgaria, Poland, Italy, Romania and Serbia. We are growing – in the long term and at strategically important locations. Maybe even your location is one of them!

Freshly spruced up for the opening – the plant in Wittenborn. Preparations ran right up to the last minute. But in the end, everything was perfect for welcoming the guests. The signage for one of the most modern dry mortar mixing plants had been completed the day before.

Higher and more efficient
The new dry mortar plant replaces an old production facility, has three times the production capacity and is twice as high at around 62.5 metres. The guests were amazed when plant manager Oliver Bothe explained the differences between the old and new production technology during a factory tour with historical pictures.

“We are setting new standards with this system. The fact that the system is operated in an energy-efficient manner was also considered in advance.”

How Germany saves emissions
The entire production process is sustainable. The sand is temporarily stored in raw sand silos for pre-drying. Due to its own weight, the sand is dehumidified without the need for energy. The water produced during dehumidification runs off through drainage gates underneath the silo. This saves around 62 tonnes of CO2 per year

We produce 25% more efficiently and save 400 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Schleswig Holstein from above
During the factory tour, the Baumit partners not only marvelled at the advantages of the new production technology, but also enjoyed the sensational view of Schleswig Holstein. After all, they were standing on one of the highest industrial buildings in the region. See the impressive plant and of course the view for yourself.

New Baumit dry mortar plant planned in Romania.

A plant with a production capacity of 200,000 tonnes per year is to be built in Buhoci, near the city of Bacau in north-eastern Romania. The objectives for this new dry mortar plant are to To increase market coverage, particularly for dry mortar in north-east Romania and Moldova; bulk deliveries in north-east Romania; increase profitability, significantly reduce transport costs for raw materials and dry mortar.

2nd production line in operation at the Sag site

Following the successful commissioning of production line 1 for lime/silica sand-based products at the same site in winter 2021/22, production line 2 for gypsum products was also extensively modernised this year in order to be able to produce in the usual Baumit quality and at the same time relieve the Teius production site. Our commissioning team from left to right: Manuel Schabauer (project management), Patrick Bock production optimisation), Michael Schwarz (automation technology) and hardware planner Stefan Wöhrer (not pictured). The commissioning team has successfully commissioned the modernisation of line 2 at the production site in BRO-Sag.

New Baumit Bulgaria wet production plant.

The new plant in Elin Pelin will serve as a reference site for Baumit International. The replacement of the plant control system was followed by the installation of the weighfeeder for automatic grain dosing. Independently of wet production, a separate plant for the production and filling of Baumit container sizes 1–25 kg was commissioned in March 2023. Production of the paste-like levelling compounds, Baumit Finish products, started in August 2023.

New Baumit complex planned in Serbia.

The production capacities of the plant in Arandjelovac, Serbia, are to be expanded. The new Baumit complex is located in the industrial zone in the suburban part of Arandjelovac. The total gross built-up area of all facilities within the complex is 4,461.80 m2. The newly designed facilities for dry mixed products and packaging are planned next to the existing production hall. The newly designed palletising hall is located in the central part of the complex and is connected to the dry mixing tower via a transport bridge. Production in the new dry mixing tower is scheduled to start in mid-2024.

There are also plans to modernise and increase the production capacity of the pâté programme in 2025.
