TODAY IN THE Spotlight

Get to know colleagues from the Baumit Group with their very special story. What brought them to Baumit and what connects them to us? In each issue of Limelight, we introduce you to the new faces.

Baumit CZ, Laboratory Manager,
Libra, 25 years of Baumit

How would my colleagues describe me in terms of my personal qualities?

A professional in his prime, a goal-orientated expert. Some people may find me too organised and precise.

If you had to describe the company in a song, what would it be and why?

A single melody is not enough to describe Baumit. Perhaps it would be Mozart. His entire oeuvre. Because he was innovative in his time, his work has stood the test of time and is loved by future generations.

What is the most exciting project you have worked on so far?

Always the one I’m currently working on.

If you were a Baumit product, which one would it be and why?

I would like to be the MM 100 masonry mortar that binds the bricks together and gives the building strength, endurance and solidity – that’s what counts.

Imagine you were Mr. Schmid, what would be the first thing you would do?

Spreading good humour. You can never have enough of that.

If you could write one message on a brick that would stay in a Baumit building forever, what would it be?

This is our family. We are at home here.

“This is our family. We are at home here.”

When I think about it, the “best day” was when I started working at Baumit …

If you had to describe the company in a song, what would it be and why?

I think “We Are The Champions” by Queen would be the best because it describes us and we still want to be “the best” …

What is the most exciting project you have worked on so far and why?

It was a project right after I joined Baumit: “Construction of a new Baumit Rohožník production plant” – it was something new, interesting and, above all, very informative for the future that was waiting for me.

What superpower would you like to have for your job?

Seeing into the near future … why? To know how to better assess decisions and prepare for the unforeseeable …

I would probably be concrete B20 … Why? Simple, strong and solid as a rock.

In any case, the promotion to Sales Manager of Baumit Italy, which took place in the same period when Baumit joined Schmid Industry Holding.

If you had to describe the company in a song, what would it be and why?

“True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper, because it’s about showing your
colours, even if you could take that literally with Baumit!

I would become SuperBaumit, with the Baumit logo on my chest to protect the company and the team from the tough times in the market and of course from the competition.

I would be PowerFlex because I tend to pursue my goal even in bad situations, but still stay cool!

The funniest experience or mishap was …

It happened at the beginning of my career that an older design engineer, who was familiar with our materials at the time, read our logo the wrong way round and searched for us under the name MitMau. It’s been a funny expression for us ever since.

If you had to describe the company in a song, what would it be and why?

Johann Strauss (son) “On the beautiful blue Danube”. The Danube, the music and the waltz stand for everything that Baumit represents for me: commitment, tradition, respect, togetherness, creating for the future, harmony, harmony, harmony, humility, innovation, I love it.

What is the most exciting project you have worked on so far?

Clearly the introduction of the new management system (AX). That was worth the investment.

Read thoughts. It would help a lot to find out exactly what your esteemed partner is up to.

MPI 25, a senior like me – he was here when I came, he’ll be here when I’m gone.
It was the first product I came across. It represents everything that Baumit means to me, tradition, but always according to the latest technical requirements.

“Commitment, tradition, respect, togetherness, creating for the future, harmony, harmony, harmony, humility, innovation, I love it.”

An iron hand in a velvet glove, but my nickname is Mummy because I look after everyone.

Participating in a workshop on body communication with horses at an assistant meeting. It was so interesting to learn that you can also communicate with your body, but it was also super funny to see how my colleagues struggled with the horses. Those are good memories.

The funniest experience at Baumit was …

Organising the Batimat trade fair in 2015, when I found myself in a small van between my General Manager and the International Marketing Director (GNE), who are both just under 2 metres tall, while I am 1.60m, and we went to buy plants at Ikea to decorate the Baumit stand.

Impossible to imagine being Mr Schmid … I have nothing to suggest to Mr Schmid because I think he does so many good things, such as homeschooling (laptop for kids) and offering IONIT paint buckets to employees during COVID.

Every meeting with my international colleagues is fun, but to write down all the funny experiences, I need a holiday to write a book.

“We are simply the best” – Tina Turner. Not my favourite song, but if I were to describe Baumit, it would be 100% accurate.

What is the most exciting project you have worked on so far?
